Best Protein Powders

Protein powders are the easiest, most convenient, most versatile source of protein, which is why we love them so much.

Tips for Using Protein Powder:

Amanda, from Amanda Lauren Wellness notes: aside from making the typical protein shake or smoothie, you can also use protein powders in your baking and cooking. We like to add vanilla or chocolate protein powder as a replacement to some of the flours in baking and add unflavored collagen to anything from soups, stews, sauces, and dressings to dishes like eggs or vegan lasagna for added protein.

Whenever I know I will be out and about during a designated meal time, I pre-make a smoothie and bring it with me or at least put the protein powder in a shaker bottle and bring along an extra bottle of water to pour in and make a protein drink on the road. I also travel with my protein and blender bottle! Yep! I'm that girl - but if you are going to stay healthy and prioritize eating right, these are the ways you can set yourself up for success. Read below to check out my recommended protein powders based on cleanliness (considering ingredients and amount of processing) and taste.

Top Protein Powder Suggestions

  1. Be Well By Kelly - cream of the crop, most minimal processing and minimal ingredients, made from beef isolate so it contains collagen already as well as all essential amino acids! (I personally think chocolate is the best flavor)

  2. Ascent Whey Protein - for those that can tolerate it, whey is often touted as highly beneficial for muscle growth

  3. Optimum Nutrition Whey Isolate Protein - more processed to give higher protein content with less carbs, fats, and lactose. Great for those who are sensitive to lactose but want the benefits of a whey protein

  5. Truvani - very clean, delicious vegan protein powder (all flavors are great)

  6. Nuzest - clean pea protein (not as sweet as other brands which is good for some people who don't like sweet)

  7. Orgain - vegan protein powder with more ingredients and processing than other vegan proteins, but it is cheaper, tastes delicious and still offers the macros you want in a protein powder

  8. Vega - vegan protein powder with more ingredients and more processing, but also has greens (extra vitamins, minerals, antioxidants etc.) in it at a good price point and tastes great

  9. Further Food Collagen - clean, delicious flavored and unflavored collagen, some with adaptogen mushrooms for different functions
